I have just received a copy of your book and look forward to reading it. It was immediately taken by my son who has done some research on his late Uncle Bill. I have just finished a phone conversation with Bill’s widow, Sue Holland, who was more than thrilled to hear of your book and has gone out to purchase same. She may send it to you for an inscription. I was the 13 year old sister of Bill who answered the call from Chance Vought that March. two months after my father died. Not a great time in the Millar family. I can only imagine what it would be like to be apart of the history that took place at that time. So much of what is used today in the Airline industry I’m sure started right in front of your eyes. What an inspiration!!!

I loved the book for a variety of reasons.
The history alone offers wonderful glimpses into the past and brings alive the imagery of life in mid 1900′s.
The morality of right and wrong and the love of life and precious moments opens up the heart to exploring personal values.
Yet, above all the writer offers a sense of self preservation that can be interpreted by the reader for self growth.

As I read your excerpt about ‘ditching planes’, my mind is drawn to a fantasy world of long summer weekends on long island, walks along the beach, dinners and dancing under the stars and celebrating the heroics of these young pilots…great visuals!

Loved the book – thanks for sharing. Great view into WWII and post-WWII America through the eyes of one test pilot pushing himself and his plane to the edge.

Hey Wayne Jr! You were so brave, and I know for a fact that Chance Vought was extremely lucky to have you as a pilot. Not only are you very brave, but you are very innovative too. I cannot believe people wanted to be tests pilots knowing they had little, or no, protection!!! Thanks for passing your bravery and innovation onto us
